Selecting a Moving Company

Selecting a mover is an important decision for anyone who is moving from one home to another. In selecting a mover, you are entrusting all your worldly possessions into the hands of a company that you are trusting to take care of them. In order to ensure that your moving company will take care of your belongings, there are a few pieces of advice that you should follow.

Ask your real estate agent for advice. Real estate agents deals with people who are moving on a regular basis, so they will often know a lot about the local moving companies. if you're moving in Brantford, Ontario, for example, a Brantford, Ontario real estate agent will probably have heard more about the local movers than anyone else.

Ask your mover lots of questions. You want to know if your mover can handle all your specific needs. For example, can they handle moving your piano? Are they familiar with moving into Mississauga detached homes? What kind of insurance do they carry, and does it cover your goods in the event of an accident? If your mover is unable to answer any of your questions, it may be wise to select a new mover.

Ask your mover for references. You will want to call other people who have used this mover in the past in order to get a feel for how the service has been for past customers. If a company has had trouble moving others from their Scarborough Bluffs homes, it's likely that you will have problems as well. Be aware, however, that a few good references doesn't guarantee that a company is always good. If a company refuses to give references, that is a red flag warning that should send you in search of someone else.

Get a contract. If you don't have a contract, there is no guarantee that your mover will even show up and they may not provide all the services that you were promised. This is a big concern if you are in a large city such as Toronto with town homes and condominiums for sale throughout the city. With so many sales happening and so many people moving, it raises the risk of your mover double booking you.

Ask your new neighbors. If you have purchased real estate in a fast growing area, like Rockwood real estate, then your new neighbors have probably recently moved as well. They can tell you about their own experiences with a mover and hopefully recommend someone who can do a good job.

Following these pieces of advice should make your moving experience much better and will allow you to concentrate on your plans for your new home.
